Spiritual News: As soon as the month of Shravan arrives, the fragrance of devotion, greenery, and celebration starts to dissolve in the atmosphere. A major festival coming in this month is Hariyali Teej, which is a beautiful confluence of women's power, love, and devotion. This festival is especially celebrated by married women in memory of the reunion of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. It is considered to be one of the most joyous Teej of Sawan.
In the year 2025, the fast of Hariyali Teej will be observed on 26 July, Saturday. According to the Panchang, this date is falling on the Tritiya of Shukla Paksha of Sawan month. Tritiya Tithi will start on 26 July at 10:41 pm and end on 27 July at 10:41 pm. Since the Udaykalin Tithi is falling on 26 July, the fast and puja will be held on this day.
There is a mythological story about Hariyali Teej that on this day, Mother Parvati got Lord Shiva as her husband after a tough penance. This festival is considered a symbol of unbroken good fortune, love, and dedication. It is believed that by fasting and worshiping on this day, married women get the blessings of a long-lived husband and a happy married life. At the same time, unmarried girls also keep a fast on this day with the wish of getting a desired groom.
On the day of Hariyali Teej, women take a vow to fast by taking a bath before sunrise. After cleaning the house or temple, the idol or picture of Shiva-Parvati is installed on the chowki. After that, worship is done by offering fruits, sweets, turmeric-kumkum, durva, incense lamps, and Akshat.
Important points:
On completion of the fast, it is considered auspicious to donate clothes, food, and other materials.
Since this Teej falls in the season of greenery and rain, it is called 'Hariyali Teej.' On this day, women adorn themselves with green saris, green bangles, and mehndi. Swinging on a swing, singing traditional folk songs, and celebrating in groups are the characteristics of this festival.
Hariyali Teej is not just a religious festival but a celebration of women's power and the beauty of nature. While on one hand this festival promotes stability and love in married life, on the other hand it also welcomes the greenery of the environment and cultural traditions. In 2025, this festival is falling on Saturday, which has increased its importance even more because Shiva Puja on Saturday is considered to be very fruitful.
